Kanwar Yatra: What is it?

Lord Shiva makes the Kanwar Yatra an annual pilgrimage. It will begin on July 22, 2024, in the Sawan month. Lord Shiva's devotees fill their kanwars with water from the Holy Ganga at Gangotri, Gaumukh, and Haridwar, then transport it back to their hometown.

End Date of Kanwar Yatra?

The Kanwar Yatra will end on August 2, 2024. The Uttarakhand government is preparing Haridwar for the pilgrims, and this year around 3 crore of them are anticipated to visit.

When is Sawan Shivratri ?

The first fortunate Shivratri will be celebrated on August 2, 2024, and Adhika Maas Shivratri on August 19, in the year 2024.

Importance of Sawan Shivendra:

Shivling receives an offering of holy water on Shivratri. In India, Sawan Shivratri is a joyful and happy occasion. After performing Shiv Puja in the evening and giving Gangajal to the Shivling, devotees break their entire daylong fast.

Uttarakhand Government's Steps:

The Uttarakhand government has already prepared the necessary plans for the pilgrims who would transport Gangajal to Haridwar and other significant locations.

Security Settings:

The government has stationed almost 10,000 security guards around the area.

Guidelines for the Kanwar Yatra:

A proper identity card is a requirement for devotees. Kanwar that is taller than twelve feet is prohibited. Kanwariyas would not permit the use of any type of weaponry. Although Kanwariyas can hold their own as a DJ, they should tone it down.

Social Media Analysis:

To maintain appropriate and stringent security measures, the government has already erected a number of CCTV cameras. Drones will also be utilized, and a different crew will keep an eye on social media for additional security concerns.

Separate Areas:

For the Kanwar Yatra, Haridwar and the surrounding areas are split up into 133 sectors, 31 zones, and 12 super zones.
