Historical Background 

Dating back to the 9th century CE, the Katarmal Sun Temple was built during the prosperous reign of the Katyuri dynasty. The temple’s construction was commissioned by Katarmalla, a Katyuri king, showcasing the dynasty’s devotion to Surya, the Sun God. Despite its age, the temple complex has maintained much of its original grandeur, though some structures show signs of natural weathering.
