Sanidew (Shani Sade Sati ) story

According to the Sanidew (Shani Sade Sati ) story in Hindu mythology, Shani is believed to have been born to Surya, the Sun God, and Chhaya, the shadow Goddess.

According to the Sanidew (Shani sade sati ) story or the Shanidev (Shani Sade Sati) story or the (Shani Sadhe Sati) story, when the Shani or the Saturn, as a nascent child opened his eyes for the first time, there was Solar eclipse, foreshadowing his powerful influence on Astrological charts.

Hindu Mythological legend goes that Shani’s mother observed penance when he was in the womb, which resulted in his being born with a dark complexion.

As per the Sanidew (Shani Sade Sati ) story or the Shanidev story, upon seeing the dark complexion of the baby Shanidev, his father Surya doubted his wife Chhaya’s marital fidelity.

The Hindu mythology legend goes that Shani, blessed with divine powers since his birth, gazed at his father menacingly, causing Surya’s body to turn black.

Worship of Shanidev Deity in Temples

In the Hindu temples, the deity of Shanidev is consecrated in black stone and is shown to adorn black clothes. Shanidev is depicted in a pose holding in his hands swords, arrows and daggers.
