If we talk about the Agastya family background, we find that Agastya Acharya is from the lineage of Pulastya, one of the Saptrishi. As per mythological legend Sage Pulastya, one of the Saptarishies was the father of Agastya Acharya or  Agastya sage and the mother was Havirbhu.

The legend has it that the Agastya family background is associated with Mitra-Varuna (father) and Urvashi (mother) who during the yagya pooja were blessed to have son Agastya who developed in the mud pitcher womb and hence, Agastya is stated to belong to Kumbhyoni.

Agastya personal life revolves around his undying spirit to gain knowledge and wisdom. Agastya Brahmarishi is credited with establishing the Siddha medicine in the Hindu Vedic culture. Agastya was an erudite scholar and is credited to have contributed in developing Tamil language grammar.

Later the King wanted to marry the daughter Lopamudra of Agastya Sage.  Agastya Dev or the Agastya Kavi married Lopamudra and thus, Lopamudra became Agastya wife.  Lopamudra was herself an erudite scholar of the Hindu Vedic period.
