Appearance of Radharani
King Vrishbhanu came to bathe in Jamuna, on a half-moon day during Bhadrapada month. While bathing, he was enveloped in pure and genuine love with a golden aura radiating from him. It sprouted from a gleaming lotus. A small girl was on her way. The king Vrishbhanu carried his new born daughter back to the palace after receiving her. After having been childless for many years, Queen Kirtida was thrilled to meet the newborn and right away adopted Radharani who she started giving attention and care that she deserved.
Birth of Radharani
According to the Padma Purana, Vrishbhanu found Radharani as he cleaned the floor to get ready for a yajna. This story is the second one about how Radharani came to be. Sage “Narada” told Vrishbhanu and his wife Kritida that Radha is the only form of Goddess Laxmi on earth.They both thought of her as their daughter from that day.
Radha Ashtami’s Puja Vidhi
On the day of Radha Jayanti, devotees fast with total devotion and a pure heart.After washing and giving a panchamrit bath, the idol of Radha is decorated. During the middle of the day, one could set up a gold idol or any other metal and worship with utmost respect and devotion.
